Anu is the Celtic Mother Goddess, associated with fertility. She is also called the Dawn Mother and the Goddess of death. Her priestesses comforted the dying. Anu is associated with wells and water and is the Goddess of cattle, health and prosperity. She is also called Ana, Annan, Danu or Don and was the wife of the Sun God Belenos.
Anu is the oldest Celtic Goddess and is often called the mother of the Irish Gods. Her power is in the land and in the imagination of those who see magic in the twilight mists between this and the Otherworld.
Like Angels and Guides, Celtic Goddesses/Angels will also come to the aid of those who call on them. Anu can appear in the form of a white swan. To connect with Anu you might feel her energies through quietly meditating on her picture or creating pieces of art, poetry or writing on swans. You might also feel Anu’s energies when you are near streams and running water. As mother of the faeries she is ever present in the land and near water.
