Pendulums and what you can use them for? you can use any type of pendulum you like, here's what types you can use there's wood, metal and crystal ones and they can come in all shapes and sizes too, the best ones i find to work with? is one that you feel drawn to use though. they are good for giving you a clear yes, no or even a maybe answer to your questions, but ask them in a clear and simple way though. the stronger and faster the movement is for the answer ,the better, if it's a slower movement the weaker the answer is at that time though. if you use one often, then don't forget it will need cleansing more often too, i do like to ask my pendulum if its happy to work with me, and then i know it does not need cleansing before i work with it okay. here's a few other things you can use one for too, if your lost or miss-placed something, asking it if it's in your home, by going in each room or just asking it, is it in each room in turn etc, is it fell behind a chest of drawers, the bed, is in a bag etc too. it does work i have found a friends bracelet she could not find anywhere, but knew it was in her home though. if you don't know what colour top or dress, leggings to wear has well, ask it if you need to wear say red that day etc, i often do this. same has with any food or drink you can't decide upon, it can help you in many ways, maybe your used one for another reason too. or your thinking of getting one, or have one you haven't used for awhile, and want to try it again? also you can make you own and get creative too, you can even use a necklace or use a long piece of string and put a ring on it, always make sure its hanging straight and is still, before asking it anything first though. let me know if your used one and in what way or even made one yourself okay?

Planetary and Runic Talismans The ancient Celts used many different talismans and amulets and each talisman was designed for a specific purpose. They were used to bring luck, health, safety on journeys and protection in the battle field. The symbols would be carved into wood, sewn into garments, onto shields and hung over doors of their homes. You can create a talisman or amulet to suit your own needs. You can use them for specific situations in life, for an energy boost, to help increase your intuition, your confidence for interviews or mental power for exams. This series of symbols can be copied onto paper, stones, wood or carved into candles … use your imagination. Our first Talisman is to help attract harmony and/or reconciliation in relationships Symbols used: Gebo (rune of harmony, the exchange of gits between two people). This rune favours peace and harmony, celebrations, gifts, giving, partnerships and attracts joy. Manaz: This rune represents ‘connection’ and harmony within relationships and among people. Venus: Venus is the planet of love, peace, harmony and creativity. You can draw this symbol over a doorway of your home, in your room, pin it on a noticeboard or vision board or print and frame it … let your intuition be your guide. This is an ancient symbol for Brigid and is also known as the Celtic Wheel. At Imbolc, Brigid walks upon the earth and with her Cross we invite and welcome the Goddess and Spring into our homes. You will need 19 x 12 inches long stalks and four pieces of string. (In Celtic times the stalks would be gathered on Imbolc eve). At midnight they’d be brought into the house. The stalks would be soaked in warm water to make them more pliable then laid out on a cloth to dry. Begin by setting an intention (what you want your cross to be for i.e. protection for your home or blessings for your family, for instance). Flatten the stalks. Put one aside. Fold all the others in half. Now this can be a bit fiddly to make but very rewarding to see your cross starting to take shape. Hold the centre of the first stalk with one hand while the other hand will add each new stalk. Wrap one of the folded stalks around the first, and tighten them together. Hold the join of the stalks together between finger and thumb and turn the cross a quarter of a turn to the left. Fold another stalk over the joint made by the first two so its open ends face the right. Gather the joint tightly. Turn the cross another quarter of a turn to the left and add the next stalk. Keep doing this until all stalks are added. With the last stalk, set it in place as above then take the ends and weave them inside the folded stalk at the opposite side of the cross to hold the cross together. Use the four pieces of string to tie off the ends of the cross then trim stalks. Decorate your cross with feathers, beads or ribbons. In Celtic times, once the Crosses were made there would be a feast. You might then hang your cross over a doorway for protection throughout the year. Imbolc is the old Celtic name for the celebration that’s also known as Brigid’s Day or in the Christian calendar as Candlemass. Imbolc was celebrated on the 1st/2nd February and is one of the four Celtic Fire Festivals. It Imbolc, the Celts would celebrate the first signs of Spring. Imbolc falls in mid-winter when food stored for the winter was beginning to get low. It is half way between the shortest day and the spring equinox. This is a time of the year when we are starting to see leaves sprouting. We have snowdrops in the garden and crocus flowers are beginning to sprout. This Pagan festival is all about celebrating the coming of a new season - the start of the lambing season and new life. The winter is passing now and we are starting to see the first signs of Spring. This Celtic celebration honoured the rebirth of the Sun and also honoured the Goddess Brigid, the Goddess of Healing, Midwifery, Poetry and Smithcraft. She is believed to bring fertility to the land. This is a time of purification after the long Winter through drawing on the power of the Sun. Bonfires and torches were lit to illuminate and inspire and to represent the Sun gaining strength over the next few months in readiness for the Spring. How might you celebrate Imbolc? Imbolc is a time to start planning for the future and clearing away the old in readiness for new beginnings. The term ‘spring clean’ is linked with Imbolc and this isn’t just decluttering our homes and workplace but also clearing our minds and hearts and finding new sources of inspiration. Light candles to honour the Sun’s rebirth. If there is snow on the ground, take a walk outside and trace an image of the Sun in the snow. You might make a Brigid cross. This is an ancient symbol for Brigid and is also known as the Celtic Wheel. At Imbolc, Brigid walks upon the earth and with her Cross we invite and welcome the Goddess and Spring into our homes. - This can be made from reeds, grasses, willow or rushes. You can also make a cross out of pipe cleaners or drinking straws. You could plant spring flowers, make candles or give (or receive) tarot, angel or oracle card readings. We all have those times in our lives where we wonder, did I really agree to this before I was born?? What was I thinking?!? While this past week hasn't been horrendous, it has been one of those weeks where all of the big things right down to the little things have piled up to the point where I'm certain I miscalculated something before I chose to be born. Odds are, I didn't miscalculate, just chose to give myself a good challenge. We have infinite possibilities ahead of us, and we have chosen from infinite possibilities behind us, yet at the same time we have a fairly clear path ahead of us that is the most likely path, despite the infinite possibilities. So why would we choose to experience all of those hard and life altering moments in our lives that changes who we are and how we are? Simple, read that last sentence again, but focus on the last half of it.... Our soul's evolution is bigger than this life time. Our soul's evolution will continue AFTER this life time. While we are still a long way from understanding completely what the purpose of soul evolution is, or how it came to be, it is one thing that has been understood universally even before modern times. The choices we make in this life, effect our soul's evolution, and while we often end up in predictable and hard to break cycles, odds are that is a common theme for you in past lives as well. Can you break the cycle? Absolutely, that is one of the things you are trying to do this lifetime. The lifetimes of being stuck in that cycle are why it is so counterintuitive for you to break that cycle though, and that is why you struggle so much with to. We are meant to reincarnate many times over, not just a few, but hundreds of times. We are meant to experience life in every capacity. Both hero and villain, saviour and saved, holy and evil. One cannot understand the darkness without having lived there. One cannot understand the light without having dwelt in it. For a full and complete understanding of all sides of humanity and its parts, we must be on all sides of it. Does it mean we need to be a villain, no. But it does mean that those who are intrinsically evil or self-serving narcissists are serving their soul's purpose, and after they leave that life will likely never have to do that to the same extreme again. There is usually a LOT of inner conflict for them on a daily basis, which we will rarely see due to the personalities required for such a life. While I don't wish to encourage them, I do have some compassion for the life they have no choice but to live. I still encourage everyone to avoid these people at all costs though. It's not necessary nor is it healthy to allow them to ruin your life because you feel bad for them. Right now, there are thousands among us who have had enough lifetimes to be considered "accomplished" souls, in that we had been through a nearly full gamut already, and are here helping others. We are teachers in a sense, but we still have our unique souls and our unique struggles we will still have to face, as our human experience is not "complete", or a walk in the park, but further learning for us as well. The true teacher knows they are never finished learning themselves. As you acquire knowledge, one should still be able to find ways to connect that knowledge to other areas, and have new ways of learning open up for new discoveries as well. The day you think you know everything, is the day you stop knowing anything. Those among us who are here to lead and teach, are also students. If you find someone who is strictly leading and preaching( that is, teaching without believing they have anything left to learn, or not open minded to other potential truths or facts), they are not one of those souls. Life is all interconnected, and each small struggle is part of a bigger challenge. Right now, my week has been a struggle on multiple fronts, but I have done better at handling it than I would have a year or two ago. Each small battle I have faced is a piece of a bigger challenge, and while I don't really want to face them all at once, that in itself is another challenge I am working through on the soul level. Did I sign up for this? Most likely I agreed to accept whatever life threw at me, and I probably agreed to accept whatever "bonus level" nonsense the higher powers deem me strong enough to handle as well. I tend to be over ambitious like that thanks to a mild feeling of knowing I can conquer everything I choose to try... One of my late mom's favourite quotes sums it up quite well, and it really is a good way to look at it, once you remove the patriarchal religious tone to it. "I know god won't give me anything I can't handle, I just wish he didn't trust me so much!" Your soul team will do their best to give you everything you need to succeed. They will also allow you to learn your own limits, so if you consciously bite off more than you can chew, its on you to fix it, not the higher powers ;) Did you sign up for everything you have to fight through, before being born? Some of it. Some of it you chose afterwards, because you strayed from the preplanned "easier" route, and you either listened to your soul team saying you could handle it, or didn't listen to them warning you what you were getting yourself into. -Val Rose This week’s Rune is: Tiwaz.
Tiwaz represents justice, loyalty and leadership. It is also linked with the Pole Star representing the guiding principles of the Universe. What is it that is guiding the direction of your life at this time? Imagine your life as an arrow flying through the air … where is its target? What are you aiming towards? Now is a good time to consider your motivations and to decide what steps need to be taken in order to achieve your aims. This rune encourages you to fight for what you believe in, defend what you have and to push for what you want but also, consider the consequences of your actions. You can achieve your goals through focus, planning and perseverance but respect other people’s rights too and respect your right to relax a little and be happy. You can be strong but still have fun. |
